Mooney Mooney ramp Hawkesbury River Inside Outside

Date: 11/7/09 -12/7/09

From the Warmth of my Sick Bed

With cold and wet weather leading up to the weekend only three boats BWC 8, 12 & 25 braved the conditions to go fishing on both days. Saturday began with a heavy fog but cleared to a sunny day by mid morning. Tony and Mathew (BWC 12) were sporting a secret weapon in their new colour Fish Finder GPS and with recent catches at Culburra, keen to show their prowess. Shame they didn’t load some GPS Co-ordinates linked via the website? The Sleaman \ Berry clan (BWC 25) were over keen, to the point of launching their boat before putting the bungs in. Luckily upon starting the motor, the bilge pump kicked in. Its constant full stream alerted everyone to the situation. Bugger we are sinking???? This comedy of errors led to a hasty removal onto the boat trailer with the motor left running without water pumping through it. Hopefully the time involved was too short and any damage was averted? I bet they won’t do that again? With all launched the comp began but the seas were also unforgiving. The bumpy swell saw Smacker in Ian’s boat (BWC 8) going through his chair. So much for his claims he can fit into a 2x shirt. Reminds me of Lead Bottom in Mchale’s Navy?

From the reports I’ve received the fish were few an far between. I know Ian had to head some 12 nautical miles out to get their flat head. But I am pleased to report he used the GPS Co–ordinates linked from our site to find them. Unfortunately to date I don’t have any photos to post unless those attending can email them to smallboats@exemail.com.au

Members are reminded as outlined in the previous meeting the Weigh master now shares the joint responsibility of Boat master so please report your intentions either by radio or phone if staying out past the set time along with your return so as to ensure your safety.
